Ćunski

 

Ćunski is located within reach of Mali Lošinj, only 8 kilometres away. The settlement was originally built on a hill where one of the many prehistoric ruins of the island of Lošinj was located. Cultivation of the nearby fertile fields provided existence for many settlers and the settlement thrived and expanded to the current limits. In addition to cultivating the fields of grain and vegetables, and vineyards, the nearby hills were planted with olive trees that gave precious olive oil every season.

In addition to agriculture and fishery, the tourism started to develop only recently; so, in the context of the presentation and promotion of indigenous produce, an olive mill – TORAĆ – features a space where the present and past converge. Part of the rich heritage is offered and displayed to tourists in the remodelled Torać. The only remaining old olive mill – Torać as the locals call it - was built around 1897.
